Html5 Editor

Write code on a KaiOS phone

Good for:

Coding on the go

How it works:

If the app has an update, you will be greeted with a changelog page. Close the changelog page by pressing the power button. You’ll then see a list of documents. Press ‘menu’ on the bottom left to create a new script in js, html, markdown and text. Name your file, and press enter so it appears on the list. Open the file to start coding.

Use your keyboard to code. Press the button with the mic on the phone keypad to create a new line of code. The other call button – the one second from the top left of your phone keypad – pulls up the menu where you can test your code, save, or exit the coding interface. You can also increase and decrease the font size.

If the app lags, press the button second from the top left of your phone keypad three times to force quit the app so you can reboot it.

The good:

Open, code and execute programming files all on your KaiOS phone!

The bad:

Many navigation buttons are mislabelled or not labelled. Kobi took some time to close the changelog page because there was no close option displayed at all. Also, I had no idea how to exit the coding interface because there was no menu label displayed on the screen.
