Color Recognizer
Recognises surrounding colours using the KaiOS camera.
Good for:
Identifying the exact colour of objects around you.
How it works:
Open the app, point your camera to an object, then press the ‘pick’ button. It will tell you the name of the colour, accompanied by a picture of the shade.
The good:
The colours have very specific names like ‘Cardinal Red’ and ‘Vermillion’, which is good for artists and designers who want to find the perfect hue for their work!
The bad:
For those who are colourblind, this app may not be for you unfortunately. The names of the colours invented by the app often don’t include the actual colour the shade is derived from, for example, the app names a colour ‘Monarch’, instead of ‘Monarch red’.
The colour picked may also be inaccurate in dim lighting.
