English & Medical Dictionaries.
Finding the meanings of English words and medical terms in English.
This is described as a ‘lightweight’ app compiled from ‘renowned’ dictionaries of the world. First choose from either the medical or English dictionary and you’re all set to dive into the sea of knowledge. Simply type the word you’re looking for into the search bar. There is also an audio function for the search, so another option is to hold down the microphone key on your phone’s keypad (the button with the microphone symbol on it) and say the word out loud.
Kobi searched for ‘diabetes’ and ‘femur’ in the medical dictionary and ‘obscure’ in the English dictionary. Definitions were both succinct and comprehensive, which was excellent.
When I tried to open the English dictionary the first time, it froze, with only part of the screen loaded. I couldn’t exit the app and had to restart the phone to close the app and open it again.
One fiddly bit is when you finish typing a word in the search bar (in both dictionaries), you can’t get the cursor to select the ‘Search’ button. You have to first select the ‘Done’ button’ using the top right button on the phone keypad. Only then will the ‘Search’ button be clickable. Having to select the ‘Done’ button really felt like an unnecessary and cumbersome step.
